Cake Decorating: Pallet Knife Technique

This is a cooking class taught by a local baker, Elaine Li.

The pallet knife technique uses an artist’s pallet knife to apply and blend colorful strokes of textured buttercream in free-form sweeps, giving the illusion of impressionistic painting on the cake. It’s an artful touch that adds expression to your edible canvas. But don’t be daunted. This technique is easy and a great place to start building cake decorating skills because it’s incredibly forgiving. You don’t have to be a pro to try this technique but once learned it will make you look like a pro. All participants will be provided a 6” white cake to decorate and take home. Wine will be offered during class. Cakes can be refrigerated for one week.
