Interested in beekeeping, or just want to learn more about these powerful pollinators? In this presentation, Bob Bowers & Claudia Khourey-Bowers, experienced beekeepers and mentors, will give an overview of the basics of beekeeping. In this class, we will explore the hidden contents of bee boxes; dive into the seasonal responsibilities of the beekeeper; discuss the fascinating biology and social behavior of honey bees; responsible gardening for pollinators; and beekeeping safety.

-Claudia Khourey-Bowers has been keeping bees for nine years, As Vice President of COBA, she develops outreach programs for honey bee education. Claudia serves as Secretary of the Central Ohio Beekeepers Charitable Foundation and is a co-founder of Veterans’ Beekeeping School. When she isn’t working with bees or making candles, she may be digging in her garden.
-Bob Bowers has been keeping bees for nine years. As a Trustee of Central Ohio Beekeepers Association (COBA), he co-manages the Easton Apiary, one of COBA’s partnership apiaries. Bob serves as President of the Central Ohio Beekeepers Charitable Foundation and is co-founder of Veterans’ Beekeeping School. When Bob isn’t working with bees or reading about them, he may be playing his trumpet.
