This four-acre edible garden and living classroom is open and accessible to the community, addressing the Conservatory’s outreach and education priorities. Included on the Campus: The American Electric Power Education Pavilion, The Live Fire Cooking Theater, Community Garden Plots, raised beds for therapeutic horticulture, fruit, vegetable, herb and fragrance gardens, Chase Community Garden Center and International Garden.
The Conservatory’s major fundraising events have also grown and expanded from these projects. Field to Table, staged in part on the Community Garden Campus, celebrated its ninth anniversary this year, raising more than $3.3 million in cumulative support for the Conservatory’s community gardening and outreach programs.
The Campus also hosts the Harvest Celebration Awards for the Growing to Green program. Growing to Green has started or supported more than 300 community gardens, urban farms, school gardens and beautification projects in Central Ohio, across the country and in Mexico, since 2000. The Campus has also produced over 3,500 lbs. of fresh fruit and vegetables this year, which are used in Conservatory education programs and donated to area food banks.
