In meditative reflection, explore the visual legacy of Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens’ collection of bonsai trees. Every year, from late March to late October, a rotating selection of trees from the Conservatory’s Bonsai Collection is put on display.
Many of the 50+ trees in the Bonsai Collection are grown in the informal upright style but there are also forest, cascade, twin trunk, slanting, Shohin and Mame Saikei. The collection consists of half tropical and half hardy trees, with the hardy trees including both deciduous and evergreen. The oldest tree in the collection is over 365 years old and the youngest display-quality tree is just 15 years old.
