Focusing on how plants and gardening can improve our neighborhoods, our health and our planet, this program provides educational resources for community
gardeners, teachers and home gardeners. Classes can be taken by the public one at a time, or participants can earn a community gardener certification by taking a series of classes with an emphasis on one of five tracks, indicated by the following codes:

School Gardens – Fall Plantings [SG]
School has started and now is the time to plan a fall planting schedule for your school garden.

Putting Your Garden to Bed [HT]
Learn how to tidy up your garden in a way that wil give you a head start for next year. Information on cover crops and composting basics will be presented.

Composting for Families [GP]
Bring the kids along for this hands-on workshop that guides you through the different types of compost bins, specific tools needed and what can and can not go into your compost. Vermicomposting (with worms!) and heap composting information will be provided. Bring a bag of scraps to feed the worms. Kids will be kept busy manipulating compost and investigating worms while adults learn what they need to start composting at home.

Plant Propagation [HT]
Come get your hands dirty and learn how to produce new plant material from the plants you already have in your garden. A Conservatory horticulturist will lead a fun, interactive exploration into plant propagation. Learn the basic principles that a home- owner could use for successful propagation.

Urban Garden Solutions two-class series [HT, CGL, SG]
For small space gardeners, apartment and condo gardeners, this series shares tips about ornamental plants and edibles plus space-saving solutions for plant material, garden items and storage.
