LES CHAPEAUX dANS lE JARDIN
(Hat Day)
Friday, May 7, 2010
The tenth annual Les Chapeaux dans le Jardin (Hat Day) luncheon was held on Friday, May 7 under a grand marquee in the gardens of Franklin Park Conservatory. Record attendance and sunny, blue skies made the afternoon one of celebration. Hat Day chair Cindy Rasmussen credited the individual and business sponsors and an active Benefactors Committee for the success of the tenth annual event. Executive Director Bruce A. Harkey announced net proceeds for the 2010 event would approach $275,000, including bidding during the live auction. Over the prior nine years, Hat Day has raised $1.8 million dollars for the Conservatory’s education and outreach programs, including its community gardening program, Growing to Green. 10TV anchor Andrea Cambern served as emcee. Guests enjoyed luncheon cuisine by Chef Hartmut Handke and fashions from Saks Fifth Avenue modeled by business and community leaders. The event concluded with the surprise presentation of the seventh annual Ann Isaly Wolfe Award to Barbara Trueman.
