Girl Scout Programs

Girl Scout leaders can schedule the following programs for their troops to complement garden-related Girl Scout badge requirements. Badges are not included in program fee. Programs are available Thursdays and Saturdays and must be scheduled at least two weeks in advance.

Registration is required through the Girl Scouts of Ohio Heartland.

Programs are 90 minutes and groups must have a minimum of 10 participants. Siblings may attend as participants, however it is not recommended for ages under 5 years.


Daisies

Seed Stories
Saturday, April 8, 10am–11:30am
Thursday, April 13, 6–7:30pm

Almost all plants on Earth are grown from seeds!  Learn about seeds and their travels to become new plants.  Plant a variety of flower and vegetable seeds to take home while working on Daisy “From Earth to Sky” Journey.

Buggy for Butterflies!

Explore the diverse world of bugs and why they are important to us.  Learn about insect bodies, behaviors and needs on a fun bug walk that brings us up close with butterflies!  Create a butterfly craft to take home and enjoy.

Outdoor Art Creator *New*
Saturday, May 13, 10am12pm
Shapes, color and sound can be found everywhere in nature.  Have fun exploring the outdoors and collecting ideas for art.  Enjoy the Conservatory’s fairy gardens and design your very own to take home and enjoy.

Snack Attack *New*

Visit the garden for fresh produce to incorporate into yummy snacks to share.  Work toward Brownies Snack Badge and create a fun recipe book to recreate learned recipes at home.

Flowers are not just pretty - they are an important part of a plant’s life cycle!  Learn to be a junior botanist as we explore the beautiful and beneficial world of flowers.  Have hands-on fun while planting flowers to take home.

Cultivation Exploration

Let’s have fun exploring gardens and getting dirty!  Work on your Garden Badge as you spend time with soil and learn what plants need to survive.  Plant vegetable and herb seeds to take home and watch grow in your own yard.

Outdoor Art Explorer *New*
Saturday, April 29, 10am–12pm
Spend time outdoors and find inspiration for creating art.  Talk to an artist, explore photography and make an outdoor-themed project.

Simple Meals *New*
Saturday, June 10, 10am–12pm
Join us at the Conservatory to whip up a great breakfast to enjoy.  Learn new skills, enjoy a meal with friends and work toward Simple Meals Badge.
